Princess Genevieve Doll - Barbie In The 12 Dancing Princesses
Capitalizing on the princess passion so many young girls harbor these days, the folks at Universal Studios and Mattel have developed a veritable princess bonanza with the "Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses" dolls and DVD. Not to be confused (or linked too closely) with the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of the same name, this story deals with a dozen princesses who are taught royal etiquette by a duchess who does not believe in fun and games. Genevieve (played by that star of stage and screen, Barbie) and her sisters find a way to bring dancing and joy back into their lives. The glamorous Genevieve doll is sure to spark hours of imaginary playtime among girls, whether they've seen the movie or not. Genevieve's skirt is a froth of pink and gold that actually spins and lights up! Her adorable little kitten accompanies Genevieve/Barbie, and is decked out in her own rose-colored gown and gold crown. Requires two "AAA" batteries (not included). Other sisters are sold separately. --Emilie Coulter

Imaginext Dinosaurs - Razor The T-Rex
Dinosaurs are a common obsession among kids and this dinosaur toy takes children back to the Mesozoic Era for unlimited play in a prehistoric time. Razor, a replica of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, has razor-sharp teeth and, when kids pull the lever under his tail, he bites with them and emits a startling roar. In addition to a moving jaw, this T-Rex moves vertically at the neck, arms, legs, and tail. Per Fisher-Price's storyline for these beasts, kids can pretend that Razor is the head of the Predators, a group of dinosaurs destroying all the natural resources. Or kids can challenge their imagination by creating their own stories and scenes with this fierce warrior. Razor comes with a saddle on his back, a catapult, a scorpion, and dinosaur bones. Also included is a caveman figure, which, although not exactly accurate for the time period, extends play possibilities a bit. Three "AAA" batteries are included to power the sound effects. --Cristina Vaamonde

LEGO Tower of Toa
As the battle for Metru Nui rages on, the line between hero and monster has blurred. According to the complex mythology of Bionicle, six heroes return home to find that hordes of spider-like Visorak have taken over the city. Trapped and transformed into half-beasts, the Toa Hordika must stage one final epic battle against the Visorak to save the city--and themselves. As part of their plan, six mini Toa Hordika have captured the Tower of Toa and transformed it into a mighty fortress. A Kanohi-masked gateway guards the entrance, while a spring-loaded Rhotuka launcher disables oncoming enemies. Equipped with a large catapult that rains "fiery" boulders down on everything around it and multiple hidden doors, the fortress will be difficult to conquer. Yet the ruthless Visorak have their own substantial weapons, including a Kahgarak capable of knocking over the tower with a single, well-placed shot. Complicating the battle are seven leaping Visorak with glow-in-the-dark pincers. Thankfully, this 410-piece set is easier to assemble than piecing together the Bionicle backstory--in fact, Toa and Visorak come preformed, so you can play right away. The colorful diagrams found in the detailed instruction booklet are invaluable in assembling the remaining pieces of this set, which requires the building skills of an older child or adult. The set includes six mini Toa Hordika (Vakama, Nokama, Onewa, Matau, Whenua, Nuju), seven Visorak, the tower, and various weapons and battle accessories. As with all Lego products, the design is customizable and compatible with other sets, including the extensive Bionicle collection (sold separately), encouraging open-ended constructive and imaginative play. --Heather Lyndon
